Can we use an old EPA fact sheet if it is on the official website?
Check its status notice before relying on it. The historical Technology Transitions fact sheet explicitly says it does not reflect the May 2026 final rule.
Does every 15-pound HVAC appliance need the same leak-repair treatment?
No: applicability depends on the refrigerant, appliance and subsector, and relevant exclusions apply. The EPA FAQ explicitly identifies the residential/light-commercial AC and heat-pump exclusion.
Can software decide whether a local code allows the installation?
It can assemble the evidence, but the adopted code and project circumstances must be checked by the responsible reviewer. ICC's transition resources show why a national model-code publication alone is insufficient.
Are DOE's 2029 standards the same as today's equipment requirements?
No: a future compliance date and present requirements must be distinguished for the covered product. Confirm equipment classification and timing through DOE's current programme page and manufacturer evidence.
Is NIST alignment a regulatory approval?
No: the NIST framework is voluntary risk-management guidance. Use it to structure evaluation and governance rather than describing a vendor as government-certified.
