The following are role-design recommendations, not a claim that fresh vacancies for all these roles were verified in this pass.
Estimating lead or preconstruction manager
Use this role when the bottleneck is scope judgement, bid qualification, technical coordination or inconsistent estimating policy. Give the person authority to set assemblies, severity definitions and approval boundaries. Do not expect an extractor to fill a leadership vacancy.
Estimating systems owner
Assign responsibility for templates, cost-code mapping, approved labour factors, data updates and user training. This may be part of an existing employee's job rather than a new hire. Give it protected time; an “owner” with no capacity becomes an informal after-hours support desk.
Procurement or pricing coordinator
Investigate this role when estimator time is consumed by chasing quotations, resolving offers and checking validity. Software can organise the information, while purchasing retains authority over supplier relationships, substitutions and terms.
Integration specialist
Buy bounded specialist work when approved data must move between systems with controlled writes and recovery. Require documented interfaces and operational handover. Do not turn an undefined integration problem into an open-ended “AI engineer” job description.
Estimator trainee
Use training to build long-term capacity and succession where experienced people can supervise. Automation can provide structured evidence for learning, but hiding the source reasoning makes development harder.
